Oesterr/Mannlicher Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle, first half of the 20th century. Serial number 8817, 8x56mm MS caliber, blued steel barrel with textured ramp leading to a bead front sight and folding 300-yard rear sight, top of receiver marked 'Patent/Mannlicher/Schoenauer/M.1908' within a textured panel and the left side of the receiver marked 'OESTERR. WAFFENFABR.-GES. STEYR,' underside of bolt handle with matching serial number; set trigger; walnut stock with checkered fore end and blued steel nose cap, checkered pistol grip wrist capped with a blued steel plate, the underside of the butt marked '29337 AUSTRIA'; blued steel trigger guard and floor plate, the blued steel butt plate with hinged compartment containing a four-segment steel and brass cleaning rod, with sling swivels. Barrel lg. 20, overall lg. 40 3/4 in. **Successful bidder must arrange pickup/transfer through a federal firearms licensee.** Condition: Excellent overall condition, barrel and receiver possibly re-blued; stock has scattered very light scratches, dings and dents; bright bore with strong rifling, action functions properly. Footnotes: Provenance Originally belonged to Singleton Hinman Bird (1883-1965), a Vice President at Tiffany & Co. during the 1930s and 1940s.
