A 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's Undress Sword Late 18th Century With fullered blade double-edged towards the hatchet point, the forte etched along one side with martial trophies and owner's initials 'JH' above pre-1801 royal arms and mottoes, and along the other with the figure of Britannia, further martial trophy and crowned 'GR' cypher, regulation pattern steel hilt (old repair) characteristically pierced with scrolls, faceted back-piece, and ribbed leather-covered grip bound with twisted silver wire (incomplete, some old wear and rust patination overall) 88.5 cm. blade Footnotes: Provenance Christie's South Kensington, Antique Arms And Armour, 17 December 2008, lot 100 (part) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
