An 1857 Pattern Royal Engineer's Officer's Presentation Sword To Gentleman Cadet James H. Cowan By Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No. 21314 For 1876 With slightly curved fullered blade etched along one side with maker's details and crowned 'VR' cypher above crossed branches of laurel and palm between designs of symmetrical foliage, and along the other with the presentation inscription 'PRESENTED TO GENTLEMAN CADET JAMES H. COWAN ON OBTAINING HIS COMMISSION FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY FOR HIS EXEMPLARY CONDUCT WHILE AT THE INSTITUTE.
