A PEWTER-ENCASED YIXING TEAPOT Seal of Shi Baofeng, Jiaqing/Daoguang Of qin-form, incised on one side with a bird on a pine branch, the reverse with a poetic inscription, with jade mounts to the spout and handle and a disc-shaped jade finial surmounting the cover, fitted wood stand. 13cm (5 1/8in) high (3). Footnotes: ęø…å˜‰ę…¶/道光 å®œčˆˆčƒŽåŒ…éŒ«é‘²ēŽ‰čŒ¶å£ŗ ć€Œå·®å¼ŗēƒ¹é›Ŗę°“ļ¼Œäø”免å…ø金釵怂äø‹é…’é¹½č±‰ļ¼Œē„”å¦Øč©­ēŸ­é½‹ć€‚ä¼Æäŗ¬ć€ć€Šå²åÆ³č±é€ ć€‹ę¬¾ Pewter encased teapots were an innovation of the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods and said to have been invented by Shi Baofeng. A painter and calligrapher he is known to have written the important work A History of Teapotsć€Šå£¶å²ć€‹ which is now sadly lost. The poem is a quotation of the poem Heng Jin Baijiu怊ęØŖ金ē™½ļ¼ˆēƒ§ļ¼‰é…’怋by You Dong (1618-1704).
